Visual and Psychological Effects of a YEAR UNDER THE MACHINE

This is a book that's hard to say a lot about without spoiling it, but trust me when I tell you it's an entire experience.

I love alien horror and post-apocalyptic vibes, and Peter Danielsson's take on abductions is a breath of fresh air, since a lot of the alien movies I've seen tend to have the same formulas. The question of how we would handle the presence of other lifeforms, not to mention their interactions with us, worms its way into your brain throughout the entire story. It isn't just about physical survival; we have to question how mentally stable we'd be in this situation as well.

The illustrations add an incredible visual aspect to the story as well. They're so haunting, and drive home the sensations of isolation, hopelessness, and terror. The human psyche, in all its raw, dark glory, is smeared across these pages to emphasize every stage our main character experiences during this ordeal.
